I have spent the past three days in Vienna, with my friends Chris Beetles and Simon Bainbridge. Our only purpose of the trip was to see three great galleries, the Albertina, the Liechtenstein and the Museum of Fine Arts. We were originally invited by H.S.H Prince Philipp of Liechtenstein to view his private collection, and didn't know what to expect, because Liechtenstein has a population of 35,000, and a police force of 30 with 3 cars and 7 bicycles, so it came as a bit of a shock to discover that their art collection is larger than the National Gallery's. In the palace we visited, they were showing only 5% of their treasures, which included eleven Rubens, a Raphael, two Titians, a Luini and a Vermeer. As we three Londoners walked around this beautiful city, we were also surprised to find no graffiti, no litter, and no noise, and wherever we went - into shops, restaurants or simply out walking - we were greeted with good manners and a calm people clearly at ease with themselves. If you love art and feel like a weekend break, this is the place to go. If, on top of that, you love chocolate cake, you may never come home.

I am just wondering why it is "the best blog"? What we can know from it? How he was eating, moving around the world, meeting onother the same others like him. Is it so interesting? No thoughts, no feelings, no observations on the modern events. He and his overrated blog says nothing for those who wants to understand world better.

Just take it as it is. It's not meant to be a comprehensive commentary on world affairs and events. Take a look at the telegraph for that.
Vienna sounds lovely! I imagine there were no language difficulties (writing as an English Canadian with passable skills in French)?
It proves again that for people smaller is better.I find Switzerland the same. Check out Luzerns railway station public toilet and you will see what i mean.
