On Saturday, poor Somerset suffered another defeat, when Warwickshire took the Clydesdale 40 Trophy, and my beloved county ended the season as runners-up, not only in this game, but in the Twenty20, and in the Country Championship. In fairness, one must congratulate Marcus Trescothick on an outstanding season, but I have a feeling he would happily have been knocked out of the Twenty20 and the one-day game in the first round if they'd have given him the County Championship trophy. Congratulations Marcus, no Somerset captain has ever done better.
