For the past century, Britain has been known as a tolerant, generous, democratic nation, relaxed in its own skin. As I write my blog this morning, a former Prime Minister is unable to sign his memoirs in a London store, the Pope, we are told, will be booed and made to feel unwelcome when he visits us, and an England footballer is advised not to return to his old stomping ground as the home crowd will spend the whole match shouting abuse at him. Is this the new Britain? When I was a child, you could walk up Downing Street and have your photograph taken outside No.10; you could watch a football match where both sides cheered for their own team, and if the Pope had come to Britain, only Henry VIII would have turned in his grave. What will it be like in a hundred years time? There is still so much we can be proud of, but all this morning's papers are interested in are the woes of Tony Blair, the Pope and Wayne Rooney.

It is sad but these are the times we live in. As just another species that inhabit this earth, we have lesser faith and trust in our fellow humans. Tolerance for others' views and opinions is reducing although from a technological and educational point of view we are advancing and should actually be "smarter" and "better" than our ancestors.
That's the strange thing about the modern day UK, the politically correct have silenced any debate and freedom of expression in so many areas. There is a big silence on immigration, and investigation into the ethnic and religious mix of criminals is muted. The so called pc brigade seem to believe in free speech as long as it is something they deem acceptable for expression. Blair himself took away many of our freedoms of speech, luckily America keeps theright to speak and offend.
Yes....
Years are passing by as if it is days...
and days are passing by as if seconds....
so is the world getting changed by these passing times...
I remember my childhood...
but now I am going to complete quarter century...
