Tate Britain exhibition

Yesterday I went to the opening of the Van Dyck and Britain exhibition at Tate Britain - a fascinating look at the man who most influenced 18th Century portrait painting and its followers. The pictures of Charles I and the courtiers of that time are remarkable (sitters were still dressing in frilly shirts and knickerbockers for a court painter, right through to the 19th Century), although you may feel after 8 galleries packed with gems, that they become a little repetitive. Nevertheless, thoroughly recommended.
