Pre-Test dinner in W9

Last night I attended one of Marcus Trescothick's testimonial events at Gordon Ramsay's new restaurant The Warrington in Maida Vale. Although the restaurant holds only 60, Marcus still managed to get half the England team there to support him. Among them, Paul Collingwood, James Anderson, Monty Panesar, and Andrew Strauss, and from yesteryear, Angus Fraser, Ashley Giles and Andy Caddick. The panel discussion decided that beating the South Africans in the First Test at Lords this week would not be an easy task, and over the next twelve months, the South Africans, the Indians and the Australians would be a tremendous test for the England team. No-one disagreed, although Collingwood was confident that the job could be done. The auction raised £12,300, and an hour in the nets with Trescothick raised £2,000 with an opening bid of £500 from Collingwood. The food was outstanding, but be warned, there are so many roadworks in the 5 roads surrounding Warrington Crescent, that you have two choices - either walk or arrive by helicopter.
